Dad Always Paid for One Extra Coffee Every morning, my dad bought one coffee. But he always paid for two. The second one, he never drank. He just pinned a little paper star on the board. Dad, why do you pay for a coffee nobody drinks? Somebody drinks it, he said. You just don't see them. He did it every single day. For twenty-two years. Last winter, Dad passed away. I thought only family would come to say goodbye. Then the strangers started arriving. One after another. A delivery rider said, I couldn't afford breakfast for a year. Your dad's star fed me. A nurse said, after every night shift, his coffee was waiting. Every one of them had a little paper star. Now, every morning, I buy one coffee. And I pay for two. Would you pay for a stranger's coffee? Comment STAR.
