They Laughed at the Old Man Counting Coins Every morning, the old man paid for one loaf of bread with a pile of tiny coins. And every morning, they laughed at him. Hurry up, grandpa, the woman in the fur coat snapped. Some of us have real jobs. But one morning, he came up short. Just ten cents. The manager crossed his arms. No money, no bread. Next customer. Lina quietly slipped ten cents from her own tip jar and put the bread in his hands. It's covered, she whispered. She did it again the next day. And the next. For a whole week, she paid what he couldn't. Then on Saturday, Mr. Abe didn't come. Lina kept looking at the door. Instead, a black car stopped outside. A man in a suit walked in and asked for Lina by name. Mr. Abe founded this bakery fifty years ago, he said. He visits his shops in disguise to see who is kind when no one is watching. He left you a letter, and a scholarship. And Mr. Grant? He'd like a word with you. The letter said one line: you paid ten cents and showed me who you are. Would you have paid the ten cents? Comment YES.
