The Dog Who Never Left His owner died. So this little dog sat on his grave, every day, for fourteen years. This really happened. Edinburgh, Scotland, 1858. A night watchman named John Gray had one best friend, a tiny dog called Bobby. They walked the cold streets together every night. Then John got sick, and he died. He was buried in Greyfriars churchyard. The next morning, Bobby was lying on his grave. The gardener chased him away. He came back. He came back in the rain, in the snow, every single day. The people of Edinburgh started to look after him. A kind innkeeper fed him every day. When Bobby was nearly taken away because he had no licence, the Lord Provost paid it himself, and gave him a collar. Bobby kept watch for fourteen years, until he passed away too. He was buried near his friend. That's Greyfriars Bobby. The little dog who never stopped waiting. Comment BOBBY.
